A recent study conducted in my brain has determined that the human race's time on Earth is dwindling. You're probably wondering why this is. Religious and scientifcal beliefs aside, humans have sustained life on Earth for a while now so why are they nearing the end? Is it Climate Change? Is it the threat of nuclear war? Is it an alien invasion? No, it's because of the direction our culture is taking.
In recent years, society has taken a turn for the worst. Abstaining from political leanings as best as I can, our way of life is being dramatically changed. No longer is the working man praised and glorified; instead, he is being replaced by the world of participation trophies and pats on the back. To put a sports analogy to use, the human race used to be the Memphis Grizzlies of the world, fighting everyday of their lives with grit and grind, blood, sweat, and tears. Now, the human race is the Golden State Warriors, entitled douchebags with no sense of hard-work or competition. I could point fingers to whose fault this is, but I won't. The damage is done, but listen, my friends... we can undo it.
The United States was built upon the backs of Italian, Irish, and African-Americans, not the "Founding Fathers." These men, women, and children came into the country legally with the work ethic and drive that propelled this country forward for centuries. Small businesses rose while big industries boomed and an empire of freedom was built. Today, the foundation of this country is being uprooted and thrown aside for that of laziness and privilege. Our country has suffered tremendous tragedies in recent years with terrorist attacks and school shootings. People call for more gun regulation, but is that really the issue? Why weren't there frequent mass shootings before the mid-2000s? Maybe if students actually feared their teachers, respected their elders, and trusted their law enforcement this wouldn't be an issue. Call me crazy, but I think yard sticks should be reinstated in classrooms. Used in moderation, these objects can be used to knock some sense into students. Today they call it child abuse, well I call it discipline and its the only formula that can produce strong men and women today. This "what about me?" culture we live in is cancerous and its spreading rapidly. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. Guess what? Back in the 50s if you wanted a piece of the pie you'd work your ass off to get it; it was not handed to you, it was not earned because you took the day off from work to stand in front of the White House and hold up a sign. Grow up! Dare I say that the women during World War II who held down the fort and kept the country alive were more honorable and strong than the ones infecting Twitter timelines today. People complain that WNBA athletes don't get paid as much as NBA athletes do. You wanna know why? Cause teams make money when people watch and if no one watches, there isn't money to give. You want more money Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi? Get in the gym, hit the calf raises, and learn how to dunk. Casual NBA fans watch the sport to see guys jump above the rim and drain 30 three-pointers in a quarter, not to see people shooting from their knees and running pick and pop plays.
The point is don't fight your battles on the streets or on the internet, fight them at work by giving 110% each and every day until you've built a life you feel is fit. That goes for everybody. Don't go and tell me this mentality doesn't work. Open a history book! Spartan warriors were trained from fucking birth to get theirs, Leonardo da Vinci drew shit on a piece of paper and turned it into masterpieces. Do you ever wonder why so many structures from ancient civilizations still stand today? Cause they put the work in and did it by hand. Nothing is built anymore; the only things that are built today are computers and those computers are used to build the rest of this shit. Have we so easily forgotten The Terminator?
There is still hope, however. We must take what we've learned from our parents and grandparents and continue the legacy. I've been fortunate enough to have the luxury of education and food on my table every night because my parents worked their asses off to provide it, and I fully intend on doing the same. Pass these lessons down! If your kid wants a treehouse, buy some wood and build one with them. Show the next generation what it means to work for what you have, and with that I leave you. And remember, the fate of humanity is at stake...
