Best Duos in Game of Thrones Ranked

Another day another thrones blog. Yesterday my blog on the seasons was a little long so this will be a much shorter one. I'm going to be ranking what I think are the best duos throughout the course of the show. I don't have anything else to say so here we go...

10. Arya and Gendry- They each began their journey together at the end of season 1 and continued until half way through season 3. They looked out for each other and it was a heart breaking moment when Gendry was taken away by Melisandre. This is a reunion that many fans will be happy to see happen after so long.

9. Robert and Ned- Of all the pairs on this list these two had the smallest amount of screen time because of their deaths. However, they share a rich history and we see their friendship on full display in season 1. It's great to see them telling war stories and Robert making Ned drink and do other things he normally wouldn't do.

8. Jaime and Brienne- The great part about this tandem is the transformation that happens with Jaime. Before this Jaime is a douche and by the time they separate in season 4 he is a fan favorite. They are together for pretty much all of seasons 2 and 3 going to Kings Landing. They learn to respect one another and it's tough to see them on opposite sides in seasons 6 and 7. It'll be good to see them back on the same side this upcoming season.

7. Jaime and Bronn- It's so great to still see Bronn in the thick on things with a Lannister. The two have great chemistry and it's hilarious to see Bronn constantly poke fun at Jaime. They are both entertaining and have several great scenes together. Hopefully Bronn is able to make his way to Jaime and the rest of the Westeros all star team in season 8.

6. Jon and Sam- When rewatching the show it surprised me that Jon and Sam actually don't have a ton of time together. However, it's the close bond they form in season 1 that sticks with fans throughout the show. We see Jon stick up for Sam when he's bullied by Thorne. They have always had each others back through thick and thin. It'll be great to see them back together at Winterfell.

5. Davos and Shireen- Poor Shireen. Everyone is mean to this sweet little girl because of her Greyscale except for Davos. He shows her kindness and compassion and the princess returns the favor. She even teaches Davos how to read. This is as pure as a friendship gets which makes Shireen's ending that much more heart breaking. Davos was devastated when he found out she died and that lead to a rare scene of Davos getting seriously angry at Melisandre.

4. Jon and Ygritte- The best relationship in the entire show. Much better and more authentic than Jon and Dany. They have great chemistry together on screen and their opposite personalities make it perfect. Ygritte is free going while Jon is all about his vows and more serious. They truly love each other and when they spilt apart it sucks. They had multiple opportunities to kill each other and neither were ever able to go through with it. They come together one last time when she dies in Jon's arms before that little prick Ollie ends it for Ygritte.

3. Tyrion and Varys- These characters bring the best out of each other and their scenes are always fantastic. Their conversations are always smart, witty, and funny. Everyone in Kings Landing looked down on Tyrion except for Varys which leads to their unlikely friendship in season 2. They learned to share a mutual admiration for one another that carries over to season 4 when Varys helps to free Tyrion from being executed. They are still together counseling Dany and hopefully there will be more to come from this pair.

2. Arya and the Hound- Out of all the duos this one is probably the most unlikable which makes it so great. They travel along the country side killing people and causing havoc in seasons 3 and 4. At first they hated each other because of the Hound killing her friend Mycah. However, over time to develop a bond and we see the Hound be protective towards her and Arya try to make the Hound a better person. This is on full display when the Hound sticks up for her against Brienne of Tarth because he is concerned and cares about her safety. I'll always remember their great fight scenes and hopefully they connect in season 8.

1. Tyrion and Bronn- Two of the funniest characters on the show have a relationship like none other. They are so honest and genuine with each other that it works perfectly. They know exactly what the other one is and even when Bronn refuses to fight the Mountain Tyrion understands. Their peak is season 2 when Tyrion is doing his thing in Kings Landing with Bronn at his side the whole time. Their relationship started in season 1 and carried through season 4. If we're lucky we'll see them together for a few more laughs in season 8.
