Still Processing...

Before the start of the 18-19 NBA season many so called analysts were proclaiming that the Eastern Conference was up for the taking with LeBron going to Laker Land. The consensus was that the East would be a three team race between Boston, Philly, and Toronto. Through the first two weeks of the season this seems to be partially correct, being that the East has been driven by three teams, Boston, Toronto, and Milwaukee. I know what people will say, "Samson its been two weeks", or "you just hate the Sixers". I admit my burning hatred for the Sixers plays into this article, but I write this with all bias aside. The Sixers are further away than people think. I mean for starters they got annihilated in 5 games by the Celtics last year, without Kyrie Irving or Gordon Hayward. Even though Joel Embiid is the guy you just wanna smack across the face, there is no denying that he's a freak of nature. A freak of nature who has only played one full season and will have foot problems for the rest of his career. For the argument lets assume that Embiid is able to stay healthy for the foreseeable future, the Sixers issues don't end there. In today's NBA the three point shooting of teams has never been more prevalent. It seems that every other day a new record is being set for three pointers. Well, unfortunately for Philadelphia they have two number one draft picks who can't shoot. In last years playoffs Ben Simmons was exposed by Brad Stevens when in Game 2 he was held to a single point. I've made as many threes as Ben Simmons has in his NBA career. The woes don't end there, as Philly is praying they weren't a victim of another trader Danny Ainge theft. Markelle Fultz has shown early bust potential, the man cannot shoot, and worse than that it appears that he is mentally weak. So when the Sixers need three pointers in the playoffs they better hope that Robert Covington and Wilson Chandler are on their games because they won't get it from Simmons or Fultz. Perhaps the worst problem for the Sixers is that they suck versus Boston, who aren't going anywhere. To get through the East the Sixers will have to get through Boston at some point, and it doesn't help that they're 1-5 against the Celts in their last six meetings. To sum up this article in one brief sentence, lets pump the brakes on Philly, they're still processing.
