Bruins Game 1 ECF Recap

The Boston Bruins took on the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final last night at 8 P.M., and they did not disappoint themselves or their fans. The Bruins started the game with a bang, as Steven Kampfer, who was replacing Charlie McAvoy due to his one game suspension, had a snipe to give the Bruins the lead early in the first. The Bruins got a little lazy after that, and let Carolina dominate the rest of the period, thus leading to a 1-1 intermission. The Bruins again began the second period with a sense of laziness, and Carolina was able to score as McKegg was able to bury the biscuit (as well as Rask), into the net. The Carolina Hurricanes took a lead into the second intermission, having Boston fans disheveled. The Bruins caught a break early in the period, after a brutal boarding by Jordan Staal on Chris Wagner. The power play did not fail, as Marcus Johnasson cashed in late in the powerplay to even the game at 2-2. Johansson has proved himself as a great acquisition in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as he and Coyle (the other trade deadline get), have had a fantastic chemistry leading the Bruins to multiple wins. Soon after Johansson's goal, Bergeron gave the Bruins the lead on a one timer out front, after a great effort and hustle play by Jake DeBrusk, who fed Brad Marchand, who ultimately fed Bergeron for the goal. The Bruins and Carolina then played some back and forth hockey, until Carolina pulled their goalie, and a fortunate bounce off of Kuraly gave the Bruins a 4-2 lead. The Bruins were not done, as Chris Wagner, yes the fourth liner, had a filthy breakaway goal to give the Bruins a 5-2 lead, icing the game for good. The teams will take two days off to regroup, and Game 2 will take place Sunday at 3 P.M., before Thrones!! Good to be back on the Kas and Co grind.
